I am an editor, writer, and publishing consultant.

I am an independent book editor and writer with over ten years of publishing industry experience. My work as an editor in trade and academic publishing has shaped my approach to working with authors. Above all, I consider myself a collaborator and an advocate who can offer honest, constructive, and respectful feedback no matter where you are in the writing process.

Whether you are self-publishing, seeking a traditional publisher or agent, or currently have a publishing contract and would like help with revision, I offer a range of services to fit your unique needs and budget.

Editorial consulting: Writing your first—or second, or third—book can be challenging. Perhaps you’re unsure where to begin. Is a traditional publisher right for your book, or should you self-publish? Where do you start when you’re looking for an agent or publisher? How can you write an effective proposal and query letter? I can talk with you and offer advice based on your particular needs.

Developmental editing: Whether you’re in the middle of your first draft or you’re revising a completed manuscript, it can be difficult to take a step back from writing and plan how to move forward. I can read your manuscript and provide constructive feedback to help you finish your first draft or improve your revision.

Line editing: If you feel your manuscript is in good shape, you may need help with the details. I can closely read and edit your work to help you with language, clarity, and flow.

Proposal and query letter review: The proposal and query letter are their own genres of writing, and if you’re having trouble making yours effective, you’re not alone. I can help you craft a proposal or query letter that will entice agents and publishers, and I can help you avoid common mistakes.

Copyediting and proofreading: If you’re near the finish line and need help polishing your manuscript or proposal, I can help. I offer copyediting services for writers and publishers.

Writing: In addition to editorial services, I am an experienced writer for custom publications in a variety of genres.
